MaxTRAQ Version 2.09 Notes

MultiView Toolbar

The MultiView toolbar contains tools to synchronize multiple MultiView enabled applications.  Currently MaxTRAQ and MaxDAQ supports MultiView sync.A MultiView enabled application will send and/or receive the following commands:

   Go to frame
   Step to next or previous frame
   Play
   Start Record
   Stop

To enable MultiView Sync, click on the Enable button in each application that you want to sync.  The toolbar also adds buttons to start any of these add-on applications if installed:

   MaxMATE
   MaxDAQ

When you start MaxMATE from the toolbar it will load the current MaxTRAQ file so you can analyze the data without going through the export.

Bug Correction: Large AVI Files

A bug in the MFC libraries prevented large AVI files to load.  This problem has been fixed in v2.09

Event Recorder Widget

A manual Event Recorder has been added as a Widget.   You can navigate through the video by using the toolbar, video control or using the following keys:

   Left Arrow = Prev Frame

   Right Arrow = Next Frame

   Page Dn or Ctrl+G = Play file

   Delete or Ctrl+B = Play Backwards

   Space or Esc = Stop


Events can be created by using F1 - F8 keys or you can doubleclick in any cell to toggle events. Note, in order to use F1-F8 the event recorder window must be active. The widget name (window name) is displayed in red when a widget is active.

The On-Line Manual has been updated

Shareware version of MaxTRAQ is now available

A MaxTRAQ Lite edition is now available as shareware.  This version does not support Autotracking or Widgets.

Video Recorder

A Video Recorder has been added to allow you to record videos from DirectShow compatible cameras such as camcorders and webcams.  To access the recorder, use File-New-Recording.

SimpleScript

A Simple scripting feature has been added.  This allows your to control MaxTRAQ by putting commands in a text file.  A Repeat command has been included to allow batch recording/processing.  All the script commands are also available as special hyperlink commands (see Widgets).  For more information on scripting, see our Tutorials.

Widget Applications

A new feature called Widgets has been added to MaxTRAQ.  These widgets are mini applications that are attached to the MaxTRAQ window.  They can be displayed or hidden and can be attached to any of the 4 sides of the window.  Current Widget Applications include:

   theWiz

This is a mini browser that understands special MaxTRAQ hyperlinks that can be used to control MaxTRAQ from theWiz.  The intention of theWiz is to provide a simple way to create wizards or student course material that the user can follow along.  The default file extension for theWiz is HTm or HTML.  See the scripting tutorial for more information.

   myNotes

A notepad to allow you to keep notes.  The notes are saved as text files.  You can drag and drop a text file onto MaxTRAQ to open up the file in myNotes.

   aCalculator

Just a simple scientific calculator

   aCalendar

Very simple calendar


New File Extensions

The MaxTRAQ default file extension has been changed from MAQ to MQF since it conflicted with MS Access.  MaxTRAQ still recognizes the MAQ extension but it is recommended to use the new MQF instead.  A new extension MQS for SimpleScript files has been added.

New Automation Interfaces

New Automation interfaces has been added for the recorder.

Codec Information

A Codec tab has been added to the File Properties dialog.  this will display information about the codec used (if any).

Hidden Points are not tracked

Points that are hidden will not be tracked/digitized allowing you to track different sets of points with different settings.  This also aids in a bilateral 3D tracking setup where you want to track markers 1-8 on one side and 8-16 on the other.

 

MaxTRAQ Version 1.99 Notes

A graph has been added

You can plot positions, velocity, acceleration, angles and distances vs. time.  To show the graph, use View-Graph.  Use Options-Graph to customize.

BOB Deinterlacing

If the video is interlaced, you can now deinterlace it it for double frame rate. Use Options-Video to setup.

Read a series of BMP or JPEG files

MaxTRAQ can now use a series of BMP or JPEG files as a movie sequence.  The files have to be numbered in sequence.  You can also do static analysis with a single image file.

Save/Export as C3D

The 2D coordinates can now be saved in C3D format so you can use 3rd party analysis tools such as Visual3D for analysis.  You can specify what dimension to set as zero.

Improved Tracking Diagnostics

If the tracker looses a point, an explanation is displayed along with the question mark.  You can also display the search window.  New options has been added to tracking setup to enable/disable these features.

Show/Hide individual Points, Angles and Distances

You can now show or hide individual point or tools by using the checkmarks in the point/tool table.  To enable this feature, use View-Table Check Boxes.

Calculated Points

Calculated points have been introduced.  The coordinates of these points are calculated by using other points.  For example, a projected point.  A calculated point is displayed in italic in the point table.

New Tool, Projected Point

Track an "invisible" point by using 2 reference points.

New Tool, Body Center of Mass

Calculate the Center of Mass of a human body.

 

MaxTRAQ Version 1.6 Notes

Additional support for AVI/MPG formats

MaxTRAQ can now read a larger variety of AVI and MPG formats. 

Enhanced support for for interlaced video

Previous versions of MaxTRAQ did not use any deinterlace filters thus creating blurred images.  Version 1.6 adds support for the following deinterlace filters:

DSpace Deinterlace Filter.  This is a free DirectShow filter licensed under the GNU GPL license.  You can download this filter from our download page.
Alparysoft Deinterlace Filter.  This filter is a commercial filter that can be purchased from www.alparysoft.com.  Please note that you need the DirectShow version of the filter.

MaxTRAQ will use either of these filters if they are installed on your system and the video is interlaced.  You should have DirectX Version 9 installed for best performance.  Please note that these are add-ons and not part of the MaxTRAQ software.

Improved user interface

You can now customize MaxTRAQ user interface items such as menus and toolbars.  Support for "skins" have also been added.

Full support for Automation

MaxTRAQ can now act as an Automation Server, thus allowing the user to control MaxTRAQ from VB, VBA, scripting or any other language. Additionally, the digitizing/tracking module has now been implemented as an ActiveX Control. This allows you to create your own custom tracker/digitizer.

MaxTRAQ Version 1.4 Notes

Automatic Tracking Implemented

Automatic point tracking has been implemented.  The tracker requires either light markers on a dark background or dark markers on a light background.  The tracking can be either fully automatic or semi-automatic.  Up to 99 points can be tracker.  Automatic or manual image thresholding.  Adjustable search window size and marker match accuracy.

Subpixels Implemented

When manually digitizing using point zoom or when autotracking, coordinates are generated with subpixel resolution.

Additional Options

A new General options tab has been added.  This tab allows you to change point zoom magnification and audio feedback properties.

Error when opening a Sample Video Clip

If you receive the following error message when opening one of the sample video clips

Access to C:\Program File\Innovision System\Max Traq\Video Clips Treadmill.avi (no codec) denied.

then you need to download and install the Intel Codecs.
